My name is Jacalyn Gillis.  I live in Southeast Wisconsin with my husband [Lann] and our dogs, Kirby and Gus. We met in college and have been together ever since! Lann’s cooking abilities reach as far as a box macaroni and cheese, eggs sunny side up on toast, or dialing for delivery.  With that said, he graciously accepted my proposal of “I cook. He cleans.” We continue to follow this philosophy in our home many years later.

I cannot remember a time when cooking was not part of my life. Thanks to my parents and grandparents, I was involved in the kitchen at a very young age and never looked back!

My philosophy about food is it should be as fresh as possible, as delicious as possible, and most of all fun! What you’ll find on this site is the food that we’re eating day to day. We find that cooking at home can be just as much fun as going out.

We belong to a CSA (community supported agriculture program) which allows us to eat locally.  You’re not going to find a bunch of recipes involving truffle oil or some obscure Japanese fish. I believe that cooking can be fun and exciting without being extremely complicated. Sometimes less is more.

The recipes you’ll find here are created, tested, styled and photographed by myself. It’s
been a huge learning curve to get my blog to this point and it will continue to improve over time. Please hang in there while we find our stride!

I am thankful to have a husband who goes along with my [sometimes] crazy projects,
appreciates good food, and, most of all, helps with the clean up! In addition, he is the
webmaster behind this blog!

I hope you find this blog as a source of inspiration, encouragement and fun!
